Ash Car Sales, Ash
Ash Car Sales is a small family-run firm selling cars and motorbikes online and from the yard premises. Trading for over 20 years, the business consists of two partners and a sales person who have built the business up to be a reputable local dealer focused on second hand vehicles that are in pristine condition and mechanically sound.
When the Coronavirus pandemic forced the business to ‘shut-up-shop’ overnight, the company immediately ceased trading, which in turn halted the revenue stream in its entirety.
The owners approached their local council for a small business grant, which was promptly refused because they didn’t have a business rates account.
By working with Jupp Castle, they:
• discovered their premises had mistakenly been merged with another premises that had subsequently been sold. This wasn’t noticed because Ash Car Sales were entitled to Small Business Rates Relief and did not pay any rates. They were unaware that they should still have been receiving a business rates bill even though it would have shown nil due.
• were asked to leave the situation in Jupp Castle’s hands. The team found the right person at the council to talk to, to rectify the misunderstanding.
• submitted a claim through us for a small business grant, which was accepted.
• received £10,000 that they were entitled to at a critical time.
